名与身孰（珍）亲？
身与货孰多？
得与亡（无）（失）孰病？

是故甚爱必大费；
多藏必厚亡。

知足不辱。
知止不殆。
可以长久。

Fame or life,-which is more precious?
Life and property -which is more important?
Gain or Loss - which is preferred?
Inordinate love of worldly things shall result in waste of much energy and time.
Overboard shall always result in heavy loss.
He who is contented will not suffer disgrace.
He who knows his own limitation will not incur danger, and can endure forever!

名誉与身体哪一样对你比较亲近或珍贵呢？
身体与财货哪一样对你是多呢？
名誉，财货与身体之得到与失去，哪一样你认为是病态呢？
所以你若甚爱财货与名誉，必将大大浪费精力与时间；想多多收藏或收购财货或珍品者，必然将来失去的也是很雄厚、很重大；
知道满足的人，才不会受到羞辱。知道适可而止的人，才不会遭到危殆；
而且可以保持长久。
